Khoudia Diop is a Senegalese Queen  and this  stunning photoshoot in TrueAfrica prove it.

The photo series Nyenyo, is named after the  her family caste, an ode to her family and Senegalese Wolof culture.

In Senegal this caste. Nyenyo, also known as ‘teug’ or ‘ngengo’, are the blacksmiths and metalworkers of the Senegalese caste system. In Khoudia Diop family they are jewelry makers and gold workers. By doing this photoshoot Khoudia, show her pride in african culture and wolof heritage.

R.I.P Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman (1966)

The legendary singer Percy Sledge deceased on April 14 2015, the sad story is that he never truly benefited from his music, an another case of white people stealing African sweat and blood, and taking advantage of them not knowing their rights.  Le chanteur américain Percy Sledge est décédé mardi dans sa maison de Baton Rouge, en Louisiane à l'âge de 74 ans des suites d'un cancer. 

Au cours d'une carrière commencée dans les annnées 60, Percy Sledge avait connu le succès avec un certain nombre de tubes, comme "Take time to know her", "warm and tender love", ou "it tears me up". Mais c'est sa première chanson, "when a man loves a woman", qui a fait de lui une célébrité dont on se souvient encore du nom de nos jours.

 Evoquant cette chanson, Percy Sledge avait déclaré dans une interview sur la BBC en 2011 qu'il avait crée la mélodie de "when a man loves a woman", mais avait cédé les droits de la chanson à Calvin Lewis et Andrew Wright parcequ'il ne savait pas qu'il y avait d'autres possibilités. 

"J'avais la mélodie dans ma tête, et je leur ai donné la chanson" a t-il dit, ajoutant qu'ils avaient ensuite écrit les paroles. Sledge n'a pas contesté l'accord, mais regrettait d'avoir cédé les droits car il privait ses enfants de tellement de chose qui profitaient à d'autres. Voir le reste de l'Article sur  grioo.com

CNV TV NEW MULTICULTURAL CHANNEL IN CANADA | NOUVELLE CHAÎNE MULTICULTURELLE AU CANADA

I just stumble upon a new channel in Canada, have you Tried? Me not yet, but seem promising.
This channel is proud to change the cultural landscape in canada television and specially in Quebec since its entirely in french.

So far, I do not see much of programmation, some old stuff like Taina, a tv sitcom from the 90's for teen, but still good stuff. The talk show  THE SPOT seems nice and hopeful, I didn't get the chance to see it, but all seem very encouraging. Stay tune see their site here CNVTV

Je viens de tomber sur une nouvelle chaîne télé CNV, au Canada, l'avez-vous essayé? Moi pas encore, mais semble prometteur.

Cette chaîne est fière de changer le paysage culturel de la télévision canadienne et particulièrement au Québec car elle est entièrement en français.

Jusqu'à présent je ne vois pas grand-chose de la programmation, quelques vieilles émissions comme Taina, un sitcom  des années 90, pour les adolescents, mais quand même une bonne chose. Le talk-show THE SPOT semble prometteur, je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de le voir mais semble tout autant encourageant. Restez à l'écoute, voir leur site ici CNTV.
